Di come ho appreso *LA* notizia...
Fromagier: First win against Argentina for 18 years. Apparently, Ben Cairns was fantastic and always sharp with the ball. Magic stuff.
me: HOORAY!!!!! I just got home from my parents' (no computer there) and I'm really, really happy to read this, seriously - even happier than when the Netherlands "killed" Italy on the first match of Euro 2008 the other week.
Fromagier: Did I see you in Tesco last night in Edinburgh? Anyway, the rugby club (Ben Cairns' spiritual home) had a re-run of the game on a big screen, so I watched it yesterday. Ben Cairns looked sharp and made some fantastic breaks. Godman looked good too.
me: Hmmm, don't think so, but I might be wrong - although I'm pretty sure I was in south Italy celebrating my dad's birthday (on Friday) and then my parent's hometown patron saint's feast (San Vito, that was yesterday).
Fromagier: I thought so, but that would have been funny. I'm just so happy for Ben Cairns. He still spends a lot of time at the local club (Currie) and his brother plays flanker for us. He's had caps for Scotland at league level (amateur players) and is a great guy too.
me: Oh, that's nice - so very un-football-ish, I like that (a footballer gone international would never spend time at a local club, unless they're shooting some documentary on his life story, or some tv commercial where he pretends to teach kids a couple of skills...). As for me, I counted up to 687 three times and decided I'll eat pizza tonight wearing my Edinburgh rugby shirt to celebrate (any excuse is good to celebrate Mossy!).
